Senior Software Engineer – AWS
Job Description
Design and build production-quality, cloud-native software on an AWS stack in a hybrid role supporting CI/CD and automated testing.
- Deliver user stories, features, and software components on a cloud-native AWS stack
- Develop clean, maintainable, production-ready code using modern programming languages and frameworks
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and design/refinement sessions
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and production issues
- Support continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes
- Contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements and software development automation
- Use AI-assisted software development tools throughout the software development lifecycle
- Apply secure coding practices and support application security requirements
- Support accessibility requirements, including applicable Section 508 considerations
- Collaborate with developers, architects, QA engineers, and other technical stakeholders
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning and refinement
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation as needed
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong experience with modern programming languages and development frameworks
- Experience with Git or other modern version control systems
- Working knowledge of AWS and cloud-native development concepts
- Familiarity with CI/CD and software development automation
- Experience writing unit and integration tests
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to prioritize work, take initiative, and work independently
- Adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced development environment
- Ability to collaborate effectively and accept/provide constructive feedback
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Ability to satisfy required background investigation and clearance requirements
- AWS certification is mandatory
- Provide a copy of the AWS certification along with the candidate’s submission details
- Hands-on software development experience required (not solely DevOps, infrastructure, or support)
- Available to work 2–3 days per week onsite in Reston, VA or Washington, D.C.
