Job Description
Experis is seeking a Java Software Engineer to support the development and modernization of mission-critical enterprise applications. This is a contract role based in St. Louis, MO (hybrid), with work focused on building Java and Spring Boot microservices and delivering AWS GovCloud solutions.
In this position, you will collaborate with enterprise architects and scrum teams to translate architectural direction into scalable services, while also improving the reliability of existing systems through testing and modernization work.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement microservices using Java/Spring Boot and TypeScript, supporting event-driven and REST-based integration patterns.
- Build solutions using AWS GovCloud services, including ECS/EKS, Lambda, EventBridge, and RDS within microservices and micro-frontend architecture.
- Reduce technical debt by upgrading outdated dependencies and frameworks.
- Ensure test automation coverage using UI testing and behavior-driven development (BDD) approaches.
- Work with enterprise architects and scrum teams to convert architectural vision into scalable implementation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with hands-on development expertise.
- Advanced proficiency in Java and the Spring Boot ecosystem.
- Experience with AWS Cloud, including ECS/EKS, Lambda, and RDS/Aurora, plus infrastructure-as-code tools such as CDK or CloudFormation.
- Experience with Angular; familiarity with micro-frontend architecture (including module federation) is a plus.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills, including the ability to document designs and clearly explain complex ideas.
