Senior Java Software Engineer

GIGATEC Engineering is hiring a Senior Java Software Engineer for onsite work in Annapolis Junction, MD. In this role, you’ll support the development, maintenance, enhancement, and troubleshooting of GHOSTGEM software applications, building scalable Java and Spring-based solutions in Linux and cloud-native containerized environments.

What you’ll do

• Support the development, maintenance, enhancement, and troubleshooting of the GHOSTGEM suite of software applications
• Design, develop, test, integrate, and sustain scalable software solutions using COTS and FOSS products, frameworks, packages, and libraries
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application reliability, performance, security, and seamless integration across complex technical environments

What you bring

• Top Secret clearance with poly (Non-Negotiable)
• B.S. degree in a technical discipline
• 7 years of demonstrable software engineering experience, or 11 years in lieu of a degree
• Authorization to work in the U.S. (no employment visa sponsorship available)
• Experience with Linux Command Line Interface (CLI) and Linux tools
• Experience developing scripts using Bash and Python
• Recent software development experience using Java
• Recent experience with the Spring Framework, including Spring Boot, Spring Data, and Spring Integration
• Experience with SQL databases, including PostgreSQL
• Experience with NoSQL databases, including MongoDB
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and containerd
• Experience with container orchestration technologies including Kubernetes
• Experience creating Helm Charts to deploy containerized services in a Kubernetes environment
• Familiarity with messaging frameworks such as RabbitMQ and Kafka
• Familiarity with CI/CD principles, methodologies, and tools such as Bamboo and GitLab CI
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, methodologies, and tools including Ansible
• Experience using Git for source control and version management

Preferred

• Experience with the Atlassian tool suite, including Jira and Confluence
• Appreciates a sense of humor and the occasional well-timed joke
