Senior Mainframe Developer
Job Description
Remote Senior Mainframe Developer role at Global KTech focused on leading design, development, and deployment of complex mainframe solutions using COBOL, CICS, DB2, and batch processing on IBM z/OS.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical governance by defining and enforcing coding standards
- Lead thorough code reviews to ensure quality and consistency
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for legacy architectures
- Develop and deploy complex, secure batch and online programs using enterprise COBOL on IBM zOS
- Architect and optimize online CICS applications for ultra low latency, efficient screen layouts, high throughput, and robust error handling
- Design relational DB2 schemas, implement high performance embedded SQL, and tune stored procedures, indexes, and queries to remove bottlenecks
- Manage and optimize JCL streams, including utilities such as IEBGENER, IDCAMS, and SORT, with automated batch scheduling
- Perform advanced root cause analysis, tracing, and performance tuning to maintain high availability using tools like Dump Analysis, Xpediter, InterTest, or File AID
- Collaborate with Cloud and Integration Architects to expose core mainframe data and logic to RESTful APIs via zOS Connect or MQ Series
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of professional IBM Mainframe software engineering experience
- Proven track record in high volume transactional environments in Financial Services, Healthcare, Logistics, or Insurance
- Proficiency in Enterprise COBOL
- Experience with JCL
- Strong Embedded SQL skills
- Assembler knowledge
