Job Description

Lead the development of high performance backend services for GM Commercial Services while driving technical standards across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for the design and delivery of the flagship GM Commercial Services software
  • Develop a deep understanding of GM Commercial Services business strategy and goals
  • Take a big-picture view to find inefficiencies and identify meaningful improvement opportunities across the organization
  • Drive alignment on approaches and lead delivery of high leverage solutions with the widest impact
  • Raise engineering quality across the team by improving best practices and producing exemplary code, documentation, automated tests, and thorough monitoring
  • Build and launch new products that deliver significant value to internal and external customers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including dependency engineering teams, product, design, infrastructure, and operations
  • Mentor junior and experienced engineers to support technical career growth

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience designing and building large engineering projects, including productionization of scalable, reliable, performant systems
  • Extensive experience with architecture and design including architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling for new and existing systems
  • Extensive experience with Java / Kotlin or Python
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Experience with at least one public cloud provider: Azure, AWS, or GCP
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in an agile development environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Knowledge of software design patterns, object-oriented programming (OO), data structures, and algorithms
  • Passion for staying current with industry trends and technologies
  • Strong product focus and acumen
  • Experience with project management to ensure on-time team deliverables with high quality
  • Experience with Databricks
  • Experience with React and modern JavaScript libraries, plus HTML and CSS

Compensation

  • Salary range: USD 153,200 - 269,100 per year
  • Bonus potential: incentive pay program with payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance
