Job Description

The Prin Systems Developer role at Compeer Financial, based in Bloomington, IL with a hybrid work arrangement, focuses on planning, developing, testing, implementing, and supporting software across the organization's business systems. The position leads applications efforts and collaborates with the BT team, Project Delivery, and business units. The salary range is USD 118,500 to 180,000 per year, and the role requires at least 12 years of relevant experience along with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or business, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and supports software programs and applications within the organization’s business systems.
  • Conducts code reviews to ensure quality and standards are met.
  • Translates technical specifications into actionable changes for new and enhanced processes.
  • Ensures that projects satisfy business requirements and end-user needs.
  • Monitors application performance, aiming to improve availability, quality, and efficiency.
  • Creates and maintains all required technical documentation according to BT methodology and processes.
  • Manages daily operations of core Compeer business applications, including enhancements, bug fixes, interfaces, and other requests.
  • Diagnoses technical issues, recommends workarounds, and implements defect corrections.
  • Prioritizes and coordinates multiple tasks to meet organizational expectations.
  • Designs process flows and technical specs for customized code and tests interoperability of modules under development.
  • Establishes standards and processes to support project development and initiatives.
  • Leads meetings with BT, Project Delivery, and business unit teams as needed.
  • Provides information and training to teammates and serves as a resource for questions and problem resolution.
  • Researches and recommends products, technologies, and services to support procurement and development efforts.
  • Keeps current with new technologies and industry best practices in application development.
  • Develops written test plans and analyzes software system test results.
  • Tests software programs and applications and addresses issues in program logic.
  • Assesses interoperability of new applications with existing systems software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or business, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Minimum 12 years of related work experience developing company-wide applications and linking cross-functional applications across business units and systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft .NET, JavaScript, C#, and MS SQL.
  • Advanced knowledge of business application and development best practices.
  • Effective communication skills to clearly convey technical information to customers and to share ideas and feedback with the team.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Ability to apply a methodical and logical approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to coordinate tasks to meet established deadlines.
  • Capacity to foster collaborative working relationships with BT clients, operations, security, and vendors.
  • Ability to train and mentor others.
  • Demonstrates initiative to maintain technical competence by staying current with industry best practices.
  • Quick learner who thrives in a collaborative team environment.
