Job Description

The Job Developer role supports employment services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, delivering job development plans, participant training, progress tracking, and collaboration with the program staff at Alpha Resource Center of Santa Barbara. Location is Santa Barbara, CA, onsite, with compensation in the USD 23 to 25 per hour range.

Responsibilities

  • Encourage and support participants in exercising choice and independent decision making
  • Create the Job Development Plan and initial IHSP
  • Develop and maintain curricula to train participants in functional work skills and personal habits
  • Apply positive practices as a core tool for behavior across instructional settings
  • Track participant progress through daily and weekly data collection
  • Monitor potential employment leads
  • Remain familiar with all aspects of each participant’s IHSP, including behavior challenges, dietary needs, medical needs and allergies, medications, and related considerations
  • Stay current with developments in the field of ID/DD
  • Be familiar with community training resources
  • Learn, understand and implement Behavior Intervention Plans
  • Maintain awareness of Person-Centered Planning and its application in daily activities
  • Understand participant outcomes, dreams and desires
  • Assist in development of participant outcomes
  • Attend annual meetings with outside agencies and parties as requested
  • Assume ongoing administrative duties as required
  • Maintain clean and safe general use areas
  • Prepare and sustain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
  • Be familiar with current laws relevant to the role
  • Enhance participants’ functional mobility
  • Ensure implementation of individualized participant routines as established by the case manager
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned
  • Participate in training aligned with geographic interests and professional growth
  • Assist with staff development and training as requested
  • Communicate essential information to co-workers, coordinators and managers
  • Prepare for and participate in scheduled staff meetings and in-service trainings
  • Keep abreast of current developments in developmental disabilities
  • Represent Alpha Resource Center and collaborate with outside agencies as requested
  • Ensure health, safety, and service standards are met
  • Keep Program Manager and Facility Manager informed of potential hazards or safety concerns
  • Establish personal professional goals aligned with the organization’s priorities
  • Promote high staff morale and unity of effort across the program
  • Foster a positive atmosphere for staff and participant growth and self-awareness
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by the Program Manager

Requirements

  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Fingerprint clearance through the Department of Justice
  • Medical Clearance
  • Valid California driver license, reliable personal vehicle with proof of insurance
  • Knowledge of office practices and office equipment
  • Ability to safeguard confidential information obtained during employment
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team while prioritizing tasks
  • Ability to establish rapport and communicate with participants from diverse cultural, educational, and mental/physical abilities
  • Job coaching or job development: 1 year (Required)
  • CDL (Required)
