Work onsite in Irving, TX and build and maintain mission-critical mainframe applications. This role supports complex development and production delivery while partnering with architecture teams, improving performance, and strengthening the team through mentorship. You will work with core mainframe technologies including COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, and VSAM, along with supporting tools and integrations.
What you’ll do
You’ll develop, test, and support complex mainframe applications using COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, and VSAM. You will collaborate closely with architecture teams on robust solution design, participate in requirement analysis, and oversee system testing to help ensure reliable releases.
Day to day, you will optimize application performance through tuning and capacity planning. You’ll also create detailed documentation for a range of applications and subsystems, resolve project and technological issues with innovative approaches, and provide strategic technical guidance that supports continuous improvement.
As part of the team, you will mentor junior developers and support them with technical advice aligned to successful delivery outcomes.
Required experience
- 5+ years of mainframe application development experience with COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM, SYNC SORT, and MQ-Series
- Proven experience with test automation, performance tuning, and mainframe support
- Strong expertise with mainframe tooling including Endevor, File-Aid, Abend-Aid, Intertest, and Control-M
- Skilled in data flow analysis, debugging, and version control management
- Onsite presence in Dallas, TX
- W2 employment only
Helpful background
- Experience with web services and Java
- Knowledge of open-source technology integrations
- Strong communication skills for collaboration across business and technical teams
- Familiarity with open-source technologies such as Python (plus)
Education
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
Pay and benefits
Pay range: USD 38.00-55.00 per hour. Estimated minimum: $38.50.
