Sr. Software Engineer, UI Developer Tooling
Job Description
CrowdStrike is building a next-generation front end, and this role focuses on the shared developer tooling that helps UI engineers move faster with fewer pipeline surprises. You will lead the platform foundation that unifies workflows across teams, with an emphasis on strong module federation architecture, efficient build and CI systems, and a single CLI that makes development and releases consistent from local machines to automated pipelines.
Location: New York, NY (hybrid)
Compensation: USD 164,000 to 295,000 per year
What you’ll do
- Own module federation architecture that enables dozens of Product Groups to ship independent microfrontends into a single UI shell while keeping contracts stable and cross-team breakage rare.
- Lead shared Vite build and dev-server tooling used by UI engineers locally and in CI, supporting fast hot reload, reliable sub-package watch, and honest cold starts.
- Design and run CI pipelines that build, verify, and publish UI packages across GitLab CI and Jenkins, optimizing for speed, caching, and clear failure signals.
- Ship a single platform CLI to scaffold a repo, wire it into module federation, run tests, and cut a release with one command that matches what engineers do locally and in CI.
- Automate dependency management and upgrades using Renovate, plus integrate security scanning and AI-assisted upgrades to improve monorepo hygiene and speed vulnerability response.
- Shift quality left by moving linting, type checks, build validation, and contract checks into editor workflows and pre-push hooks to catch issues quickly.
- Partner with UI Quality, UI Release, and Observability teams so the platform experience feels unified through the single CLI.
- Work with Product Group leads to migrate legacy build and tooling patterns onto the paved road and drive adoption across the organization.
- Mentor engineers on build tooling, module federation, and monorepo patterns, and provide thoughtful code review for both the platform and its consumers.
- Build ephemeral environments and preview deployments for each MR to deliver fast, honest feedback before merges.
What you bring
- Experience building shared frameworks, tooling, or platforms that other engineers use day to day.
- Strong knowledge of Vite and modern front-end build tooling, including diagnosing issues deep in the module graph.
- Production experience with module federation or comparable microfrontend architectures at scale, including versioning, contract, and runtime pitfalls.
- Fluency in TypeScript, monorepo tooling (Nx, Turborepo, or similar), and modern package management such as pnpm workspaces.
- Proven ability to create GitLab CI pipelines that remain fast, reliable, and provide clear signals when something breaks.
- Experience automating dependency management (Renovate or similar) and integrating security tooling into workflows, including SAST, SCA, and Snyk.
- A track record of setting engineering standards that autonomous teams adopt, with the ability to influence senior engineers and leaders when needed.
- Demonstrated use of AI in earnest to improve decision-making, streamline workflows, and drive outcomes.
- Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency, and drive business outcomes.
