Job Description

Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Sr. Software Engineer in Bioinformatics to design, implement, and maintain full stack applications that support genetic data workflows. The role focuses on building data pipelines and RESTful/JSON APIs, deploying cloud applications, and collaborating closely in an agile delivery environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain software applications to support enterprise objectives.
  • Ensure application outcomes align with user requirements and established performance standards.
  • Build complex data workflows, pipelines, and RESTful/JSON-based APIs in an enterprise setting.
  • Deploy and manage applications with an emphasis on scalability and reliability.
  • Participate in agile practices, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support seamless integration and delivery.
  • Write automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to maintain code quality.
  • Conduct peer code reviews to uphold development standards.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with modern software development practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines, version control, and testing frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and orchestrating complex data workflows, pipelines, and RESTful/JSON-based APIs.
  • Experience with PHP, Laravel, MySQL, REACT.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies.
  • Test-driven development mindset with experience writing tests.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the health industry or interest in genetics and bioinformatics.
  • Experience implementing solutions in the cloud, with AWS preferred.
  • Experience designing and working with application programming interfaces, including JSON-based RESTful APIs.

Location and Collaboration Expectations

This position is onsite in West Norriton, PA. The role also requires collaboration with teams in both the US and EU, with an expected minimum of 2 hours overlap during business hours.
