Software Engineering Manager

L3Harris Technologies is hiring a Software Engineering Manager in Fall River, MA (onsite) to lead a software engineering team working on underwater autonomous maritime vehicles. This role combines people leadership with hands-on technical direction across requirements, design, testing, integration, and embedded application development. The position also supports career growth into management while contributing to proposal cost and resource planning.

What you’ll do

• Lead the software design and development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, specifications, design, implementation, and development.
• Drive efficient team processes by creating best practices for software development and performing code and design reviews.
• Collaborate with other engineering discipline managers to support effective product development.
• Identify, establish, and improve development processes and standards to enhance productivity and performance.
• Contribute to new technologies and processes, including idea submission for IRAD, and execution of funded IRAD and Internal Order projects.
• Define needed capital, tools, and equipment for the Software Engineering Team.
• Mentor and coach engineers on career development and growth opportunities.
• Conduct performance evaluations and manage engineering recruitment interviews and hiring for additional software engineers.
• Participate in Engineering Proposal cost estimation and Basis of Estimate efforts.
• Manage organization manpower allocation.

How you’ll contribute day to day

You will direct the day-to-day activities of the Software Engineering Group, including making individual work assignments, monitoring performance, providing technical direction to engineers and program teams, and performing difficult technical work on highly involved projects. You will also support release readiness by reviewing and approving formal documentation, and estimate labor, capacity, tools, equipment, and other resources to align with budget and schedule commitments.

Required qualifications

• US Citizen and ability to require and maintain a DoD clearance.
• Education and experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software, Computer, or Electrical Engineering with 12+ years related experience; or a Graduate Degree (Master’s desired but not required) with 10+ years related experience; or 16+ years related experience in lieu of a degree.
• Ability to contribute independently to software requirements development, software testing and integration, and application and embedded software development using C#, C, and C++, with understanding of Windows and Linux based development.
• Management and leadership knowledge in the job area, with comprehensive technical/professional discipline knowledge and broader understanding across the function.
• Experience with recruiting and hiring technical talent.
• Experience developing technical and cost volume inputs for proposals.
• Experience as a Cost Account Manager utilizing EVMS and Program execution lifecycle.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Preferred skills

• Experience working in an Agile development environment; Scrum Team certification and/or experience with Jira.
• Experience leading proposal development and Basis of Estimate generation.
• Experience with DevOps process, tools, and procedures.

Compensation

$135,000 - $250,500 USD per year
