Anduril Industries is hiring a Software Engineer for the Strategic Defense team, focused on building and scaling software-defined command and control capabilities. This role supports real-world missions and requires an active U.S. Secret clearance (or higher), with opportunities to work across complex systems spanning networking, autonomy, and systems integration.

You will collaborate with engineering peers and end-users to turn needs into deployable functionality, balancing user experience with practical engineering constraints. Some travel with the team is expected to build, test, and deploy capabilities where they are needed most.

Role scope

Own software solutions deployed to customers at the edge of innovation and necessity
Write code to improve robust C2 products and scale mission capabilities to broaden impact
Collaborate with multiple engineering teams to plan, build, and test functionality of complex systems
Partner with end-users to convert requirements into features quickly while balancing user experience and engineering constraints
Travel 10 to 30% with the team to build, test, and deploy capabilities in the field

Required clearance

Currently possesses and can maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance (or higher)

What you’ll bring

3 to 8+ years writing production software in languages such as C++, Rust, Go, or Python for real users or systems
Experience owning a feature or service end-to-end, including design, implementation, deployment, and operational support when issues arise
Ability to debug problems in code you did not write and systems you did not design
Comfort explaining technical tradeoffs to non-software-engineer stakeholders (including operators, hardware engineers, and customers)

Builds a software-defined command and control layer that can see, decide, and act faster than any human operator alone
Team coverage includes autonomy, tracking, simulation and wargaming, hardware, systems engineering, and test and evaluation for an accredited fire control system fielded rapidly and at scale
Works on incubating and maturing AI-native offerings for the integrated air and missile defense domain

Compensation and location

Location: Huntsville, AL (onsite)
Salary: USD 166,000 to 220,000 per year
