Northrop Grumman Classified Solutions is seeking a Sr. Principal Cyber Software Engineer to develop and sustain software systems supporting national security missions within a highly cybersecure, highly regulated environment. This role is on-site, full-time in Honolulu, HI and requires the ability to obtain and maintain required clearances.

Compensation
- Base salary range: USD 149,300 to 223,900 per year
- Additional compensation: Eligibility for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus may apply depending on the position.
- Bonuses: Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results.
- Long-term incentives: Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop solutions to national security threats using products that may include software engineering, messaging systems, infrastructure engineering, and vulnerability research of network and communication systems.
- Design, develop, document, test, and debug application software and systems that include logical and mathematical solutions.
- Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers to plan, design, develop, and use electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
- Determine computer user needs and analyze system capabilities to address program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls; prepare operating instructions; design and develop compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
- Provide software development support using scripting languages.
- Ensure software standards are met.
Required Qualifications
- Education and experience: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years of related professional experience in engineering, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 6 years of related professional experience in engineering.
- Security clearance: Must have a current, in-scope U.S. Government Top Secret/SCI clearance with an investigation completed within the last 6 years, or be enrolled in the U.S. Government Continuous Evaluation Program. Clearance must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
- SAP clearance: Must be able to obtain a Special Access Program (SAP) clearance before a start date can be established, and maintaining SAP clearance is required for continued employment.
- Extensive experience engineering and sustaining systems in a highly cybersecure, highly regulated, operational environment.
- Programming: Proficiency in C++ and/or Java 21+, including backend service development and frontend interfaces.
- Networking and data flow: Experience with data flow technologies and networking, including UDP, TCP, and hybrid protocols.
- Messaging: Experience with development and system sustainment of messaging brokers.

Preferred Qualifications
- M.S. degree in Computer Science, STEM or related technical field
- Deep knowledge of US Government messaging standards like UCI, Link-16, J-Series
- Familiarity working in multi-level security domains, including with cross-domain solutions
- Enterprise Integration Patterns (EIP): proficiency with Spring Integration or Apache Camel to build robust adapters and message routers
- Backend development experience with C++, Java 21+/Spring Boot service leveraging MongoDB or Elasticsearch
- Frontend development experience with Angular, React or Vue.js
- Asynchronous Messaging: JMS with ActiveMQ Classic, including connection pooling, message persistence, and dead-letter queue (DLQ) management
- Proficiency with containerization technologies
- Familiarity of Agentic AI software development tools
