Job Description

Location: Seattle, WA onsite. Salary: USD 147,000 - 211,000 per year. Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. Minimum experience: 1 year. Google offers a broad benefits package designed to support you and your family as you work on AI and cloud storage innovations.

About the role

As a Software Engineer on the AI/ML Storage and Parallel File Systems team, you will help shape the next generation of cloud storage designed for extreme-scale, data-intensive workloads. The role emphasizes APIs, distributed systems, and performance optimization to support large-scale AI and data workflows. The service targets throughput up to 10 TB per second and aims to deliver industry-leading performance in real time.

Responsibilities

  • Build and launch application programming interfaces for file systems
  • Design and implement distributed systems to deliver file systems at multi-petabyte scale
  • Develop file system technologies for data protection features like snapshots, backups, and security
  • Investigate bottlenecks, deliver performance improvements, and build customer-facing tools to achieve performance for specific scenarios
  • Implement optimizations to reduce cost

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience in programming with Golang, Java or C++
  • 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or storage systems
  • 2 years of software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting
