Job Description

Join the Space Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) Daybreak team at Boeing in Chantilly, VA, where you will help build and modernize software used for mission-critical processing workflows. This role focuses on developing, integrating, maintaining, and rehosting applications that run in AWS cloud environments, including work with legacy algorithms and specialized data formats.

You will collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to translate technical requirements into working software solutions, while supporting repeatable deployments and operational maintenance. The work spans Python, C, and C++, containerized environments, and cloud infrastructure-as-code tooling to keep mission systems reliable and maintainable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software components and applications using Python, C, and C++ for mission-critical processing workflows
  • Analyze, debug, and integrate existing algorithms and legacy applications; create interfaces and wrappers so capabilities can be used by higher-level applications and services
  • Evaluate legacy implementations and dependencies to determine integration, modification, refactoring, or selective rewriting approaches
  • Develop and maintain software for ingesting, parsing, validating, and processing specialized data formats and associated metadata
  • Package, containerize, and rehost software applications in AWS cloud environments to support reliable execution and integration with existing cloud services
  • Use cloud tools and infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Pulumi to configure resources, manage deployment dependencies, and enable repeatable deployments
  • Develop, test, and deliver software using GitLab and CI/CD pipelines to automate builds, testing, integration, and deployment
  • Troubleshoot issues across application code, data formats, native libraries, interfaces, dependencies, and deployment environments
  • Develop automated tests, validation procedures, and error handling to support software reliability, data integrity, and maintainability
  • Integrate software components into existing architectures and processing pipelines, including deployment, verification, and ongoing operational maintenance
  • Participate in Agile activities such as iteration planning and backlog refinement within a SAFe framework
  • Collaborate with software engineers, system engineers, and stakeholders to produce effective software solutions aligned to technical requirements
  • Document software designs, interfaces, dependencies, and integration procedures to support long-term sustainment and reuse
