The role focuses on building secure, mission-critical web and mobile applications using modern full-stack technologies and AWS, with hands-on participation in an Agile delivery process.

Role Overview

As a hands-on engineer, you will design and maintain scalable systems that meet customer security requirements. You will deliver responsive front-end experiences, backend services and RESTful APIs, content management capabilities, and cross-platform mobile functionality, while collaborating in Scrum ceremonies and working with Product Owners, developers, and customer stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable, secure web and mobile applications aligned to mission-critical customer requirements.
  • Build responsive front-end applications using Next.js, React.js, JavaScript, and CSS, and develop backend services and RESTful APIs using Python and Django.
  • Develop and maintain content management solutions using Wagtail CMS and optimize PostgreSQL databases for performance and data integrity.
  • Support cross-platform mobile development using React Native and native iOS development using Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, Xcode, and Apple iOS SDKs, ensuring seamless backend integration.
  • Write clean, maintainable code; perform peer reviews; troubleshoot complex issues; and implement unit, integration, and automated testing.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable applications within Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Collaborate with DevSecOps engineers to support CI/CD pipelines, Docker deployments, cloud infrastructure, and application monitoring.
  • Troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues while maintaining performance, reliability, and compliance with customer security requirements.
  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives while actively contributing to software delivery.
  • Partner with Product Owners, developers, and customer stakeholders to establish sprint goals, prioritize work, and align delivery with mission requirements.
  • Identify and remove team-level impediments, manage technical dependencies, and address risks impacting sprint execution and delivery commitments.
  • Use Jira for sprint and backlog management, GitLab for source control and collaborative development, and Rocket.Chat for customer and team communication.

Required Qualifications

  • US citizenship is required per contract.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field with 8-12 years of prior relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining modern web and mobile applications.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, React.js, Next.js, HTML, and CSS for front-end development, and Python and Django for backend services and RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with Wagtail CMS (or comparable content management frameworks) and PostgreSQL (or similar relational databases).
  • Experience developing cross-platform mobile applications using React Native and native iOS applications using Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, Xcode, and iOS SDKs.
  • Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining applications in AWS, including familiarity with S3, ECS, RDS, CloudFront, and Application Load Balancers (ALB).
  • Experience with Docker, Git-based source control, GitLab, and CI/CD development and deployment practices.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration concepts, including deploying, managing, and scaling containerized applications in cloud environments.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment, including facilitating Scrum ceremonies, supporting sprint execution, removing impediments, and contributing hands-on software development.
  • Experience using Jira or comparable Agile tools to manage backlogs, user stories, defects, and sprint progress.
  • Strong understanding of secure coding, automated testing, code reviews, software integration, and troubleshooting across full-stack applications.
