Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Operate with minimal supervision and limited management intervention.
• Define operational specifications and analyze software requirements.
• Design embedded systems software using computer science, engineering principles and mathematical analysis.
• Complete testing of programs, document steps and maintain operator instructions for developed or modified programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and external contacts; must read, write and speak English to receive and respond to instructions.
• Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment; capable of working independently or as part of a team.

Overview

Bowhead seeks a Software Engineer to join our Crane, IN team. The role involves researching, designing, developing and testing operating system level software, compilers and network distribution software for military computing applications.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift up to 15 to 25 pounds.
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically.

Security Clearance Requirements

• Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level. Current Secret clearance holders are strongly encouraged to apply. U.S. Citizenship is required for Secret clearance at this location.
