Software Engineer
Job Description
Noblis is seeking a Software Engineer to support research, design, development, and maintenance of computer and network software used in Navy afloat and ashore tactical networks and primary C4I systems. The contract role includes investigation through testing, software and hardware integration, and DevSecOps sustainment aligned to installation and modernization efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialized utility programs for tactical afloat and ashore networks and related systems
- Analyze user needs and develop software solutions using principles of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis
- Update or enhance existing software capabilities for ADNS, CANES, ISNS, and related systems
- Coordinate with project management, acquisition, logistics, and security disciplines to integrate hardware and software systems
- Provide software load, installation support, and software alterations for primary afloat and ashore systems, including approved Engineering Changes, software pre-loads executed in C4I Pre-Installation Check Out (PITCO) facilities, shipboard alterations, and other approved upgrades
- Develop specifications and performance requirements for tactical network applications
- Investigate, design, code, implement, and test enhancements to afloat networks software with an emphasis on automation
- Support development, QA, production, and post-production testing of hardware and software for operational readiness
- Support DevSecOps engineering for proactive sustainment, security monitoring, and feedback loops on software releases
- Document, test, and analyze results according to applicable guidelines and reporting procedures
- Support Modern Digital Tactical Software for Testing (MDTST) development and execution
Required Qualifications
- Education and experience: Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems with 3 years of software engineering experience, OR a master’s degree (listed disciplines) with 1 year of software engineering experience
- Security clearance: Active DoD Secret clearance; ability to obtain TS/SCI
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required
- Quantitative field: BS in a quantitative field (minimum required) such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems
- Experience: 3 years of software engineering experience
- Experience applying programming concepts in a professional setting
- Experience with modern software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps/DevSecOps
- Experience performing installation activities including integration, testing, training, system activation, operational transition, and repair of installation discrepancies found during installation and SOVT, along with minor disassembly/removal and assembly/replacement of units or components to facilitate test requirements and/or inspection
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing requirements

- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with Python, Java, or C++ in networked environments
- CompTIA Security+ or equivalent IA certification
- Experience developing scripting utilities (e.g., Python) to automate repetitive analysis, BOM checks, data cleanup, and report generation
- Applied knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLMs) to support technical search, requirements reviews, document comparisons, lessons learned, design reviews, and knowledge retrieval
- Experience developing application programming interfaces (APIs) and data integration solutions to improve data exchange and flows across tools and systems supporting tactical network sustainment engineering efforts

Position Details and Compensation

- Salary range: USD 78,900 - 123,300 per yearly

- Compensation at Noblis is determined by factors including education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, and applicable employment laws
- The projected compensation range is based on full-time status; part-time or on-call compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked
- Posted Salary Range: USD $78,900.00 - USD $123,300.00 /Yr.
