Job Description
Schneider Electric is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help deliver major software capabilities for home electrification. Based in Boston, Massachusetts with a hybrid schedule, this role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership across design, development, and deployment.
This position supports the team’s technical direction for the platform by tackling complex problems, making architectural decisions that account for business needs and user experience, and mentoring less experienced engineers. You will also contribute to strategic technical discussions and help establish engineering best practices as the platform scales and clean energy adoption accelerates.
What you’ll do
- Oversee the design and implementation of significant software features enabling consumers to advance home electrification.
- Apply broad software engineering knowledge to solve complex problems and guide less experienced engineers to help scale the platform.
- Act as a technical resource for the team while contributing to overall technical direction.
- Lead end-to-end design, development, and implementation of intricate software products and systems.
- Execute technical missions with autonomy to propose or develop complex solutions within a technical domain.
- Perform coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting during application development or continuous deployment.
- Provide technical leadership on projects and mentor junior software engineers.
- Make architectural decisions balancing business needs, technical constraints, and user experience.
- Resolve complex engineering challenges using elegant and scalable solutions.
- Contribute to strategic technical discussions and roadmap planning.
- Help establish and enforce engineering best practices and standards.
- Collaborate with product and business teams to define requirements and solutions.
- Contribute to moderately complex aspects of projects and support improvements in system architecture and code quality.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering (any field), or a related field with five (5) years of progressive experience in software application development (or related occupation), or a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) with three (3) years of experience.
- Experience developing software applications using Python 3.10 or later.
- Experience building automated tests for backend systems (for example, unit and integration tests) and frontend applications (for example, unit and end-to-end tests).
- Experience creating frontend applications using TypeScript with a reactive JavaScript framework.
- Experience architecting and deploying highly scalable applications on AWS services.
- Experience designing and optimizing both relational and NoSQL databases.
- Experience using JIRA or Confluence for project tracking and documentation.
- Experience creating dashboards for performance monitoring and alerting.

Compensation and work location
- Location: Boston, MA (hybrid)
- Salary: USD 186,160 - 190,000 per year
- Remote work: eligible for remote work 2 days/week
