Senior Product Developer
Job Description
Hanwha Azdel Inc offers an on-site opportunity in Forest, VA for a Senior Product Developer to lead development activities for new products, methods, and platform-level material and technology research. This role helps shape Hanwha Azdel's future product portfolio and collaborates across functions to meet medium- and long-term customer and regulatory requirements. The position provides a competitive salary of USD 95,000 to 120,000 per year and a clear path for technical growth, whether advancing as a strong individual contributor or assuming greater technical leadership. A Master’s degree with 10+ years of industrial experience or a PhD with 5+ years in polymer/material science, chemical engineering, or mechanical engineering is required.
Responsibilities
- Support safety and housekeeping policies and practices, operating in a safe, clean, and productive manner. Assist with safety improvements at Lynchburg operations when requested and promote all Hanwha Azdel Environmental, Health, and Safety guidelines.
- Drive projects that deliver growth for the business by identifying and implementing innovative new product technologies for breakthrough performance. Lead New Technology Introductions, New Product Introductions, Product Management of Change, and new test method development, collaborating with marketing, commercial, manufacturing, quality, and technology teams to ensure project success.
- Document and communicate key learning, pursue patent opportunities, and contribute new ideas for consideration. Prepare technical reports, pursue patent disclosures, and draft patent applications.
- Utilize Six Sigma tools, NTI/NPD processes, and support business initiatives. Apply statistical methods to guide decisions, follow established processes, ensure compliance with the performance management system, and support facility upgrades and infrastructure improvements.
- Make steady progress along a technical career path toward increasing individual contribution or broader technical management responsibility.
Requirements
- Degree in polymer/composite processing, material science/engineering, chemical engineering, or mechanical engineering, or a closely related field.
- Master’s degree with at least 10 years of experience, or a PhD with 5 years of experience.
