Senior Principal Software Engineer

Senior Principal Software Engineer supporting the Ground Weapons System (GWS) on the Ground Fire Control (GFC) product for the Ground Missile Defense program in Huntsville, AL. This in-office role requires an active DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Understand, implement, and test both existing and new capabilities and algorithms that involve complex mathematics and physics-based solutions, directly supporting GWS on behalf of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
• As a member of the GFC team, contribute to software development (currently about 1.5 million lines of code) that evaluates and manages the threat scene for the missile defense system protecting the United States.
• Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, handling a broad range of assignments and collaborating with teams across experience levels.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university with 8 years of related work experience, or a Master’s Degree with 6 years, or 4 years with a PhD.
• Recent experience developing software in C++, Java, or Ada; willingness to become proficient in Ada software development.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to think critically and capture concepts in work products, presentations, and discussions.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
• Ability to support an in-person / closed-area work environment.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs.
• Current active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance required at time of application and to start.
