Job Description

Arrona Tech LLC is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer for an on-site role in the Hanover/Fort Meade area. This position requires an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and offers a salary range of USD 180,000 to 230,000 per year. The role centers on designing, building, and maintaining mission-critical Java software across the full development lifecycle within a small, high-impact team that collaborates closely with engineers, customers, and field-site stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems guided by documented requirements.
  • Analyze user needs to derive design and performance targets for the software.
  • Design, code, test, and sustain new and existing applications.
  • Modify existing software to add features, fix defects, adapt to new hardware, and improve performance.
  • Debug software issues and resolve problem reports.
  • Integrate software into new or updated systems and operating environments.
  • Develop and maintain RESTful services and enterprise web applications.
  • Create simple and complex database queries and data repository interfaces.
  • Support front-end dashboards, back-end repositories, and full data-processing workflows.
  • Collaborate with system and hardware engineers to define software requirements, interfaces, constraints, and performance needs.
  • Develop or implement algorithms to meet performance and functional standards.
  • Assist in developing and executing software test procedures.
  • Review software components for adherence to design requirements.
  • Document test results and support quality control of team products.
  • Write and review software, system documentation, and Interface Control Documents.
  • Generate and maintain design specifications using UML-based tools.
  • Support deployment, installation, and operational monitoring of software.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to documentation and software development standards.
  • Serve as a technical lead when project needs and processes require it.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is mandatory.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to federal contract requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution, plus 14 years of software engineering experience on programs of similar scope, type, and complexity; or 18 years of experience in lieu of a degree on projects with similar software processes.
  • Minimum 14+ years of software engineering experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant Java programming experience.
  • 2+ years of Java 1.7 or higher.
  • Experience developing presentation-tier applications.
  • 1+ year of Spring Framework experience.
  • 2+ years of JavaScript development experience.
  • 5+ years of JSP and Servlet programming experience.
  • 5+ years of JEE enterprise web application design and development.
  • 5+ years designing and developing RESTful applications.
  • Ability to create and deploy applications in an Apache Tomcat web server.
  • 1+ year using JavaScript presentation libraries such as jQuery, Angular, or ExtJS.
  • 6+ years programming on Linux platforms.
  • 6+ years using revision control tools (Git, GitLab, SVN, CVS, ClearCase).
  • 6+ years of test-driven development experience.
  • 3+ years of Oracle, PL/SQL, and/or MySQL experience.
  • Experience writing Interface Control Documents.
  • Experience generating and documenting design specifications for system-level components.
  • Experience using UML-based tools such as Confluence, Gliffy, or similar.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
