Secret Clearance- Software Engineer

Liberty Personnel Services, Inc (LP90008) is hiring a Senior Software Engineer (technical lead) for onsite work in Herndon, VA. This role focuses on mission-critical software delivered end-to-end, from requirements and architecture through deployment and sustainment. You’ll lead engineering efforts for secure, cyber-aware systems and help modernize and extend capabilities used in critical communications and networking.

What you’ll work on

• Enterprise-scale software products supporting critical communications and networking
• System modernization and refactoring of existing capabilities
• New feature development across distributed and multi-threaded applications
• Cloud and hybrid-cloud deployments for demanding environments
• Containerized services and orchestration at scale
• APIs and integration points across databases and subsystems
• DevSecOps workflows, CI/CD, and automated testing practices
• Resilient, cyber-aware software for DoD and telecom-style domains

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across the engineering team
• Take ownership of software products from concept through sustainment
• Design and evolve software architectures and system designs
• Drive development across the full software lifecycle
• Mentor junior engineers and elevate engineering standards
• Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate design, coding, testing, and debugging
• Implement and maintain RESTful services and back-end components
• Develop multi-threaded applications in Java and/or C++
• Design and integrate with relational or distributed databases
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins-based workflows
• Develop, package, and deploy containerized applications
• Support Kubernetes, cloud, and hybrid-cloud deployments in secure environments

Required experience and skills

• Active Secret clearance
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle
• Proven technical leadership and an ownership mindset
• Strong software architecture and system design skills
• Experience using Agile software development methodologies
• Strong Java and/or C++ development experience
• Experience with Java Spring Boot and REST API development
• Linux development environment experience
• Multi-threaded application experience
