Job Description
CAI is seeking an experienced Senior Full-Stack Developer to join its Trenton, New Jersey team on a hybrid, contract basis. This role centers on shaping, building, modernizing, and supporting enterprise web applications with Java and React, with on-site collaboration required three days per week. The position offers an hourly rate in the mid to upper range and calls for a strong background in large-scale software delivery.
Role overview
Senior Full-Stack Developer (Java and React) responsible for transforming legacy Java applications into scalable Spring Boot microservices, delivering responsive interfaces, and ensuring robust API integrations within enterprise environments.
Responsibilities
- Refactor legacy Java applications into scalable Spring Boot microservices for maintainability and growth
- Build and maintain responsive UIs using React, JavaScript, CSS, and Bootstrap
- Develop and consume secure RESTful APIs to support enterprise integrations
- Interpret business requirements and translate them into standards-aligned technical solutions
- Design and optimize relational database structures with emphasis on Oracle performance and SQL tuning
- Conduct unit, integration, and component testing with JUnit, Mockito, and React Testing Library
- Troubleshoot production issues and provide ongoing support for enterprise systems
- Implement builds, deployments, and release management via CI/CD pipelines
- Collaborate with stakeholders, analysts, architects, and development teams across the SDLC
- Enforce coding standards, secure development practices, and application security requirements
- Support enhancements, bug fixes, and modernization initiatives
- Engage in code reviews, technical design discussions, and knowledge sharing
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- LinkedIn profile is required
- 10+ years of Java development (Core Java and modern frameworks)
- 7+ years of experience with system refactoring and monolithic modernization
- 7+ years with Spring technologies including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Hibernate
- 7+ years working with relational databases and data analysis
- 5+ years building applications with JavaScript and React
- 5+ years of CSS and Bootstrap experience
- 5+ years designing and developing RESTful APIs
- 5+ years of developer-level testing using JUnit, Mockito, and React Testing Library
- 5+ years involved with software deployment processes and CI/CD tooling
- Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies
- Experience supporting enterprise web applications through the full lifecycle
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environment
