RISE Software Engineer

Intuitive Surgical’s RISE (Rotations at Intuitive Science and Engineering) program is a two-year rotational pathway designed to build breadth across the company through four, six-month assignments. As a RISE Software Engineer, you will support technical projects across different functions and business units while learning from mentors and training sessions, with the option to interview for permanent roles at the end of the program.

This onsite role is based in Sunnyvale, CA and operates on a day shift. Compensation includes a base pay range that varies by region, with total packages that may also include incentives, benefits, and equity.

Program overview

• Complete four 6-month rotations over a 2-year program.
• Rotations may span product design, manufacturing engineering, equipment engineering, supplier engineering, and process engineering.
• At the end of the rotations, you may be able to interview for permanent roles.

Responsibilities

• Support key technical projects across the business units.
• Transfer project knowledge and key information to other RISE Engineers.
• Network with a mentor and other Intuitive employees to increase understanding of the organization and support growth.
• Attend RISE training sessions to build technical and soft skills.

Required qualifications

• Strong technical ability to grasp new concepts and apply them to problem-solving and solutions.
• Self-starter who can operate in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to follow manager guidance, work direction, and deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Competence in C, C++, C#, and Python.
• Strong writing and Microsoft Office skills.
• Flexible and open-minded approach.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral formats.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering (or a related degree).

Compensation

• Base salary (Region 1): USD 137,700 - 186,300 per year
• Base salary (Region 2): USD 117,000 - 158,400 per year
• Market-competitive compensation packages may include base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity.
