RF Software Engineer 3 - (C++, Linux, Python)

Akina, Inc. is seeking an RF Software Engineer 3 to develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems that support processing-intensive analytics and real-time operations. This onsite role in Annapolis Junction, MD includes hands-on debugging and testing, software integration, and technical leadership aligned to the needs of the project.

This position emphasizes translating system-level needs into software design and performance requirements, working across hardware and system engineering inputs, and improving the documentation and processes used by the software development team.

What you’ll do

• Develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems using documented requirements.
• Work independently or as part of a team to review and test software components and document test results.
• Resolve software problem reports and debug existing software to correct defects.
• Design, code, and modify software to add new features and adapt to new hardware or performance needs.
• Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
• Provide input to system design including hardware/software tradeoffs, software reuse, and appropriate use of COTS/GOTS instead of new development.
• Develop and implement complex algorithms that meet timing, system resource, or interface constraints.
• Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces and queries, including simple data queries.
• Write or review software and system documentation and assist with developing and executing test procedures.
• Conduct quality control on team products.
• Serve as a team lead appropriate to the software development process on the assigned project.
• Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met.

Required qualifications

• Twelve (12) years’ experience as a DSP Algorithm developer.
• Twelve (12) years’ experience with C++, Linux, Python, or similar development language.
• C++ work must be in the last 10 years.
• DSP algorithm development experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
• May substitute four years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
• May substitute two years of experience with an MS in Engineering or CS.
• Active IAT II CWIP / DoD 8570 compliant cert (i.e., Security+).

Compensation and benefits

• Salary range: $256,000 - $313,000 per year
• 24 days PTO accrued annually
