Principal Data Engineer - Global Cybersecurity Data & Analytics

Liberty Mutual is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to lead global cybersecurity data and analytics initiatives in Plano, TX (onsite).

Responsibilities

• Consult on the design and development of complex programs and tools for ingestion, curation, and provisioning of enterprise data for analytics, reporting, and data science.
• Build and evolve data architecture to strengthen accessibility, efficiency, governance, and data quality.
• Collect, clean, and transform traditional and big data to maintain accuracy and improve availability.
• Recommend improvements to data capabilities and drive implementation forward.
• Develop deep expertise in technology enablers supporting data engineering and analytics.
• Document existing processes, organizational structures, architectures, and external system integrations.
• Contribute to solution development and enhancements tied to key business outcomes.
• Create interactive, visually engaging data visualizations that help surface patterns, trends, and correlations across large datasets.
• Provide guidance on Power BI visualization capabilities and functionality.
• Present and educate a wide range of stakeholders on how to use visualizations effectively.
• Actively use AI tools to improve speed, quality, and scale, with documented workflows where AI adds value; critically evaluate and validate AI outputs; apply AI responsibly while protecting confidential and customer data.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience (technical degree preferred).
• Typically 8+ years of professional experience.
• In-depth knowledge of IT concepts, strategies, and methodologies.
• In-depth knowledge of diverse and emerging technologies, including new architectural concepts and principles.
• Knowledge of data engineering languages and tools; proficiency with new and emerging technologies.
• Strong understanding of layered solutions and shared data engineering concepts and product features, with security-minded approach.
• In-depth understanding of business operations, objectives, and strategies, including global business and technology trends in the financial services industry.
• Highly developed negotiation, consensus building, influencing, facilitation, and adaptability skills to respond quickly to change.
• Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including strong presentation ability.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.
• Solid programming skills in Python (Pandas) and SQL, with analytical and critical thinking skills and an understanding of big data technologies.
• Understanding of machine learning principles, statistics, and algorithms.
• Understanding of data warehouse solutions, data modeling, and governance.
• Working knowledge of AWS, Azure, and GCP cloud environments.
• Power BI development including DAX and M query, plus Power BI gateway.
• Snowflake administration experience.
• AWS Airflow.
• Experience with ETL and data pipeline technology.
• Proven experience in data modeling, governance, and analytics.
• Ability to leverage and build APIs, including Python and SQL for data management.
