Mid-Level Java Developer (Spring Boot / AWS Backend)

Nuve Controls LLC is seeking a Mid-Level Java Developer to build and support a multi-service Spring Boot backend (nuvebackend) powering device, admin/contractor, and mobile APIs. The role involves hands-on implementation with AWS deployment, troubleshooting, and cloud infrastructure familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the lead developer to implement features across several Java services, extend shared backend code, review and modify database changes, and diagnose issues spanning application code, data, scheduled jobs, and AWS-connected components.
• Develop and enhance backend features in Java and Spring Boot across multiple services.
• Develop and maintain REST endpoints, service-layer logic, validation, and shared DTO and entity code.
• Work with PostgreSQL, JPA/Hibernate, Redis, Elasticsearch, and scheduled or background processing.
• Assist with deployment and ongoing support of services in AWS-backed environments.
• Troubleshoot production and staging issues involving application code, configuration, logs, data, and AWS integrations.
• Contribute to regression safety through JUnit and Mockito tests and API-level test coverage.
• Update API documentation and technical documentation when behavior changes.

Requirements

• Solid professional experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience building and debugging REST APIs in production-like environments.
• Strong SQL skills and comfort working with relational schemas and incremental migrations.
• Experience with JPA/Hibernate and service/repository-layer backend design.
• Working familiarity with AWS as a developer, not solely as an end user.
• Ability to investigate issues across application code, logs, configuration, and infrastructure boundaries.
• Experience writing tests with JUnit and Mockito.
• Good communicator who can collaborate effectively as a practical coding partner.

Salary: USD 130,000 - 145,000 per year
