Lead Developer

Brightly is seeking a Lead Developer to steer a compact delivery squad from Michigan, with flexible remote options. This hands-on leadership role blends direct coding with delivery coordination, leveraging Java with Spring Boot on the backend and Vue.js on the frontend, with a preference for healthcare domain experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead development initiatives while continuing to contribute code directly
• Build and maintain applications using Java with Spring Boot on the backend and Vue.js on the frontend
• Coordinate day-to-day activities for a small delivery team
• Engage directly with client stakeholders to align priorities and expectations
• Shape technical decisions, architecture, and implementation approaches
• Uphold high standards for code quality, performance, and scalability
• Support API design, integrations, and overall system architecture
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies and ensure smooth sprint execution
• Mentor developers and foster a collaborative team environment
• Identify and mitigate risks, blockers, and delivery challenges

Requirements

• 6+ years of software development experience
• Proven track record in a lead or senior developer role
• Strong expertise in Java with Spring Boot and modern backend development
• Solid experience with Vue.js or comparable modern front-end frameworks
• Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and microservices
• Strong understanding of software architecture and system design
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience working in Agile environments
• Ability to balance hands-on development with team coordination
• Professional Level Developer with 5 years of experience or more (Required)
