Job Description
Perma Technologies is hiring an experienced Lead Java Full Stack Developer in Chicago, IL for onsite work. This role blends hands-on engineering with technical leadership, helping you design and deliver scalable enterprise applications across the backend, front-end, and AWS modernization path. You will work with cross-functional partners and drive engineering standards through architecture, code reviews, and mentorship.
What you will do
- Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of enterprise-grade full-stack applications.
- Architect and implement cloud-native solutions using AWS services.
- Build scalable backend services with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
- Create responsive, user-friendly front-end applications using React.js.
- Design and implement serverless applications with AWS Lambda.
- Drive modernization and migration of applications to AWS cloud platforms.
- Ensure high standards for code quality, security, performance, and scalability.
- Conduct technical discussions, code reviews, and architectural decisions.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, and DevOps teams to align solutions with business goals.
- Mentor and guide development teams through best practices and technical challenges.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, estimations, and retrospectives.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 10+ years of software development experience.
- 5+ years building cloud-native applications on AWS.
- 3+ years leading development teams or technical initiatives.
- Strong full-stack expertise using Java and React.
- Experience implementing serverless solutions with AWS Lambda.
- Ability to define application architecture and development standards, including reviewing solution designs against enterprise architecture.
- Experience mentoring developers through technical coaching and driving engineering excellence via code reviews and automation.
- Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, including AWS, Azure, Linux, and network security principles.
- Proficiency with front-end technologies including JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular, plus HTML5 and CSS3.
- Deep knowledge of RESTful API design, microservices, scalability strategies, and system design for large-scale systems.
- Hands-on experience with version control such as GitHub or SVN, plus familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of database systems such as MySQL or SQL Server, with SQL query optimization preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts across teams.
- Ability to work effectively in an Agile environment while managing multiple priorities.
