Join MOKA in Ottawa County, Michigan, onsite, as a Job Developer supporting individuals through the Community Supports Jobs program. You will build employer partnerships, deliver job readiness training, and provide ongoing support to help people find and sustain meaningful employment. Responsibilities

  • Network, research, and collaborate with community-based employers to connect job matches for individuals with disabilities
  • Support individuals through the employment process and ongoing progression
  • Coordinate with the MOKA Community Supports team, providers, individuals served, and natural supports to meet each employment goal
  • Assess and advocate for each person’s interests, intentions, and overall employment goals
  • Link individuals to community resources and partners to address needs
  • Design employment training with the supervisor and employer
  • Establish a healthy working relationship with employers and maintain open communication to increase success for the individuals served
  • Learn and perform employer job duties alongside the individuals served
  • Role model successful completion of job duties for individuals served
  • Teach appropriate workplace values and reinforce them through modeling and feedback
  • Communicate employer expectations to individuals served and monitor progress continuously
  • Share observations and suggestions to boost skills and job readiness
  • Facilitate job matches by exposing individuals to varied responsibilities with employer support
  • Provide job readiness training at community-based sites
  • Serve as a liaison between employer and individual served when appropriate
  • Provide positive leadership as individuals learn new skills on the job
  • Transport individuals to and from employer sites
  • Foster positive relationships between individuals and employers
  • Maintain accurate and timely records and reports across electronic systems, billing, incidents, and daily progress
  • Promote strong peer-group support and integration by building relationships with the employer workforce
  • Attend meetings, seminars, trainings, and related activities as needed
  • Respond to health risks or hazardous conditions and escalate concerns using the agency hierarchy

Qualifications

  • Language skills: Ability to communicate in person, on the telephone, and in writing; represent MOKA at meetings and convey information
  • Reasoning ability: Capable of problem solving, decision making in diverse situations, and directing others effectively
  • Computer skills: Basic computer literacy with MS Windows Office Suite and openness to learn new technology
  • Driver's license: Valid Michigan driver's license
  • Driving record: Acceptable record with at least three years of licensed driving experience
  • Work style: Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Creative thinking: Ability to think creatively when reviewing procedures and proposing improvements
  • Creative strategies: Capacity to develop and implement creative strategies

Education

Bachelor's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Social Work, Psychology, or related field is preferred.

Experience

  • 1 year of work with people with developmental disabilities (Required)
  • 1 year of retail supervision (Required)

License and Certifications

Driver's License (Required)
