Job Developer
Job Description
This on-site Job Developer role in Long Island City, NY, offers a salary range of USD 45,000–50,000 per year and focuses on assisting people with disabilities through Customized Employment, Discovery, and placement into competitive jobs.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the Discovery process and complete the final Discovery Report within an average of 90 days.
- Create and manage diverse, time-limited community internship sites spanning career exploration areas such as Pharmacy, clothing and big box retailers, and food establishments.
- Place approximately 25 individuals per year into employment opportunities.
- Develop tailored resumes for participants in the program.
- Assist participants with paper or online job applications when needed.
- Maintain relationships with existing employers and develop new employer accounts.
- Support participants in finding, securing, and retaining employment.
- Perform job matching by aligning a participant’s experience, temperament, work setting preferences, and goals to suitable positions.
- When applicable, arrange on-site job coaching for participants.
- Apply knowledge of Social Security work incentives and how employment affects disability benefits; explain SSI and SSDI benefit plans to clients.
- Educate employers on program and placement issues, including disability considerations, ADA, tax credits, and job modifications.
- Manage paperwork required by funding sources, such as case notes and billing materials.
- Establish relationships with businesses interested in customized workplace training.
- Provide job search services, including resume writing and interview preparation.
- Maintain an online log through CMIS documenting all services delivered to participants on a daily basis.
- Ensure complete, accurate, and timely submission of all job orders, referrals, follow-ups, and verifications for the department.
- Serve as a positive role model for participants.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the JD Supervisor or management.
- Maintain HIPAA confidentiality of records on a daily basis.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with persons with disabilities.
- Experience as a Job Developer and/or in Sales/Marketing or related fields is a plus.
- Proven ability to cultivate and maintain employer relationships across diverse industries.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation and networking abilities.
- Ability to work with challenging populations and defuse tense situations.
- Team player with a solid work ethic; flexible, creative, and energetic.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritize competing demands.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Field-based position requiring daily travel to multiple sites.

Our Must Haves
