- Drive architecture and design reviews, including service boundaries, API contracts, data models, and integration patterns.
- Develop secure, high-quality, production-grade code and run thorough code reviews, setting and enforcing engineering standards.
- Build and maintain highly available, scalable services with operational excellence across reliability, performance, cost awareness, and maintainability.
- Implement and govern authentication and authorization using OIDC/OAuth2, including token validation and service-to-service security patterns.
- Establish observability practices with structured logging, metrics, and tracing, plus incident response readiness using runbooks.
- Evaluate vendor and internal options (fit, security posture, scalability, and operability) and guide adoption decisions.
What you bring
- 12+ years of applied full stack engineering experience delivering and operating production systems, including senior/lead capacity with technical leadership and design ownership.
- Expertise with Java Spring Boot: API development, dependency injection, validation, error handling, and performance tuning.
- GraphQL proficiency: schema design, resolvers, and federation/composition patterns (where applicable), plus query performance (N+1 mitigation, caching) and governance/versioning.
- REST proficiency: OpenAPI-style contract design, pagination/filtering, idempotency, backward compatibility, and consumer-driven API evolution.
- Hands-on OIDC/OAuth2 implementation, including JWT flows (access/refresh), scopes/claims, secure session patterns, and least-privilege access control.
- AWS (hands-on) experience designing, deploying, and operating cloud-native apps, with strong IAM understanding, networking basics, and operational tooling (logs/metrics/alarms).
- AWS Aurora PostgreSQL: advanced SQL, indexing, query optimization, migrations, and transactional design.
- AWS Neptune: Gremlin, graph modeling, query patterns, and performance considerations.
- AWS Kafka (MSK): topics/partitions, consumer groups, schema evolution, ordering and at-least-once semantics, idempotency, retries/DLQs, and monitoring.
- Strong Git practices and automated testing across unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end, with code quality gates and release confidence practices such as feature flags and progressive rollouts where applicable.
- Demonstrated proficiency using Claude Code and/or GitHub Copilot to accelerate development, debugging, refactoring, test generation, and documentation while ensuring correctness, security, and maintainability (including validating outputs, avoiding sensitive data leakage, and following team standards).
