Job Description
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory seeks a full stack web developer to design, build, and maintain internal and external websites while partnering with UX and clients and supporting web services on Linux.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with UX Designers on front end interfaces, UI interactions, and responsive design best practices.
- Partner with the team lead to generate and implement ideas to improve user experience, code quality, and productivity.
- Manage Linux servers running RHEL.
- Configure and maintain open-source tooling and software including Apache, NGINX, MariaDB, SMTP, DNS, and SSH.
- Develop custom work-group applications to meet client-directed needs.
- Work with clients, graphic designers, and editors to define objectives and establish project requirements for web specifications, often including customer contact and consultation.
- Independently troubleshoot and resolve technical issues tied to institutional compatibility, support, and system needs.
- Support team solutions by assisting with technical issues and solution development related to institutional compatibility and system needs.
- Document technical solutions, system configurations, and development processes to support maintainability, knowledge sharing, and operational continuity.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and related experience).
- Fundamental knowledge of server architecture and troubleshooting, including Linux or Apache.
- Knowledge of MySQL, HTML, CSS, Python, React, Angular, or JavaScript.
- Sufficient experience using current technologies and practices across tools such as Confluence, Docker, Git, or Jira.
- Sufficient experience designing, deploying, or managing solutions in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Sufficient experience building sites and developing themes.
- Fundamental knowledge of current trends and best practices in web architecture and design, including performance, accessibility, UI/UX design, prototyping, scalability, compliance, and usability.
- Sufficient experience contributing to projects and communicating effectively, verbally and in writing, with diverse teams.
- Knowledge of server architecture and troubleshooting PHP.
- Experience with latest technologies and practices across tools such as MariaDB and MongoDB.
- Experience building sites, developing themes, and creating/modifying modules for CMS platforms including Drupal, WordPress, and Liferay.

Compensation
- $121,830 - $154,500 per year
- Lowest to highest salary believed for this role at posting time; pay will not be below any applicable local minimum wage.
Security and Pre-Employment Details
- Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance required.
- If selected, a Federal background investigation will be initiated to determine eligibility for access to classified information or matter.
- All L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.
- External applicants selected must pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test, including marijuana testing under Federal law.
