Full Stack Developer

All Auto Network is building and operating production systems that support websites for hypercar sales, manage live inventory, and power integrations and internal admin tooling. This hybrid role is based in Gurnee, IL with an in-office cadence of about four days per week and the flexibility to work from home when needed.

Role Overview

You will design, build, and take ownership of end-to-end systems that span backend services, front-end user interfaces, integrations, data workflows, and production operations. The role emphasizes reliable shipping practices, safe deployments, and continuous improvement based on how real production systems behave.

Responsibilities

• Design and build new systems, services, and integrations from initial sketch through production release
• Own in-house Laravel and PHP applications, including admin tools, reports, billing workflows, and dealer back office functionality
• Develop Node.js services and tools, along with front ends implemented in React, Next.js, or the framework best suited to the task
• Create inventory feeds that import, normalize, and distribute vehicle data and images using XML, JSON, CSV, FTP/SFTP, and APIs
• Implement lead forms, CRM delivery, spam protection, and role-based access
• Design and manage MySQL schemas, migrations, data quality, and query performance
• Provide production health on Linux through logs, processes, workers, and service status monitoring
• Implement safe releases using staging, deployment, monitoring, and rollback practices
• Maintain and improve existing systems by understanding why current code works, improving reliability, and addressing business bottlenecks
• Convert learnings into upgrade plans that include approach, tradeoffs, risks, and rollout details, presenting to leadership and leading execution after approval
• Work daily in Claude Code and Cursor, with changes reviewed and tested prior to shipping
• Architect, build, test, ship, and support real production systems from start to finish

Requirements

• 4+ years of full stack development with deep PHP at the core, including experience working in mature code written by others
• Demonstrated ability to build systems, not only features, including having designed and shipped something and supported it in production
• Sound judgment across tradeoffs involving performance, reliability, cost, security, maintainability, and end-user needs
• Ability to explain technical direction to non-technical leadership in plain terms, including associated risks and expected payoff
• Strong Laravel skills across architecture, queues and workers, console commands, migrations, configuration, and deployments
• Modern JavaScript experience, including real Node.js work and front-end development in React or Next.js, plus flexibility to use other frameworks when required
• Strong MySQL experience, including schema design and performance tuning
• Experience with APIs and data integration formats and workflows, including JSON, XML, CSV, FTP/SFTP, webhooks, and scheduled imports
• Comfort on the Linux command line, with disciplined version control, staging, backups, and rollback habits
• Must already live within commuting distance: Lake County, the north Chicago suburbs, or the Kenosha area (Ability to Commute: Gurnee, IL 60031 (Required))
• On-site in Gurnee about four days per week, with flexible work-from-home when needed
