Job Description

Travelers seeks a Data Engineer II (Tech Lead) to design, build, and operationalize data solutions that power AI, ML, and analytics across the enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Build and operationalize complex data solutions, address issues, apply transformations, and propose data cleansing and quality improvements.
  • Design intricate data architectures and data pipelines.
  • Analyze diverse data sources to assess value and determine inclusion in analytical workflows.
  • Apply core data management practices including data governance, data security, and data quality.
  • Collaborate across teams to support delivery and educate end users on data products and analytics environments.
  • Analyze data and systems, assess complex defects and incidents, and implement corrective actions.
  • Test data movement, transformation code, and data components.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM field or equivalent.
  • Eight years of related experience.
  • Proficiency with ETL tools (Abinitio, Databricks), AWS cloud platforms, programming languages (Python, SQL), and modern data engineering practices.
  • Ability to deliver work at a steady pace, release in small batches, and negotiate key tradeoffs to meet commitments.
  • Demonstrated domain expertise with understanding technical concepts, industry trends, and in-depth knowledge of current systems and adjacent systems.
  • Strong problem solving skills to build durable systems and devise innovative resolutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with ability to collaborate effectively with teammates and business partners.
  • Ability to lead team members and foster a safe environment for engineers to learn and grow, with proven self-motivation to identify opportunities and track team efforts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related STEM field, or equivalent education/experience.
  • 4 additional years of data engineering experience.

Salary Range

Salary: USD 126,500 - 208,700 per year
