Lead Data Engineer II

The AI & Data team at Deloitte is seeking a Lead Data Engineer II to help design and deliver scalable technical solutions for client engagements. This role leads small engagements or key workstreams, coordinates distributed teams and client relationships, and contributes hands-on to delivery while ensuring quality across team outputs.

Role Overview

In this position, you will take responsibility for the design and delivery of solutions supporting client needs within technology transformation programs. You will lead key workstreams, manage collaboration across distributed teams, and support proposal and business development efforts as needed. You will also oversee the quality of team deliverables and recommendations while contributing to implementation across distributed delivery teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead small engagements or key workstreams within larger technology transformation programs for clients
• Manage cross-functional distributed delivery teams and client relationships across the engagement lifecycle
• Contribute to proposal and business development efforts while supporting delivery
• Oversee quality of team deliverables and recommendations
• Contribute hands-on to solution delivery across distributed teams

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering and distributed data platforms, including enterprise data models, ingestion pipelines, ETL processes, data lakes, and big data solutions
• 3+ years of experience designing and developing AWS-based data engineering solutions, with hands-on experience using AWS Glue, EMR, EKS, S3, Lambda, RDS, OpenSearch, and CloudWatch
• 2+ years of experience leading and delivering engagements with geographically distributed, cross-functional teams
• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, information technology, or a related field
• Ability to travel up to 50% on average, based on client and industry needs
• Limited immigration sponsorship may be available

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience creating critical collaterals for client workshops and customer interactive sessions
• Experience presenting technical content to both large and small audiences
