Job Description

Erie and Niagara Insurance Association is seeking a skilled Java Developer to join its information technology team in Williamsville, New York, offering a hybrid work model. The role centers on designing, building, maintaining, and documenting software applications that underpin the company's business operations, with collaboration across departments and a focus on reliability and performance.

Position overview

This full-time role within the IT Department provides technical expertise in the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and documentation of software components that support the company’s business needs.

Responsibilities

Maintain existing software while developing new applications
Develop an understanding of the business domain
Assist with recurring tasks
Monitor a phone and email based help desk
Produce technical specifications and test plans
Create and extend operational documentation
Consult with colleagues on maintenance and performance of software systems
Assist with company-wide system upgrades as needed
Utilize established development tools and conventions including IntelliJ, Java, Visual Studio, ASP.NET, SQL Server, XML, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Investigate and develop skills in new technologies
Perform other related duties as required

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, or at least five years of relevant experience
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
Ability to set and meet deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Proven experience in object-oriented analysis, design, and programming
Proficiency with IntelliJ, Java, Visual Studio, .NET Framework, ASP.NET, HTML, XML, CSS, and JavaScript
Experience with relational databases, specifically Microsoft SQL Server
Demonstrated ability to quickly master new technologies
