Sr. Software Engineer - Patient Onboarding
Job Description
Senior Software Engineer on the Patient Onboarding team at Rula, a remote role based in Los Angeles, CA, with a salary range of USD 172,550–203,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver dependable product experiences that drive growth and improve patient outcomes.
- Own projects end-to-end, collaborating with Product, Design, Analytics, and fellow engineers to run experiments, ship enhancements, and iterate from real data.
- Operate in an experimentation-driven environment, building scalable systems optimized for performance, correctness, and resilience as the business grows.
- Serve as a technical leader on the team by mentoring teammates, surfacing constraints early, and modeling strong ownership and follow-through.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of software engineering experience building, scaling, and maintaining production-grade web applications.
- Strong skills in API design, data modeling, and developing distributed systems tuned for performance, correctness, and resilience.
- Proficiency with modern full-stack frameworks, capable of focusing on frontend user flows or backend business logic while collaborating closely with Product and Design.
- Proven history of owning technical initiatives end-to-end, navigating tradeoffs, delivering clear scope and estimates, and flagging risks early.
- Experience improving team dynamics through structured code reviews, documentation, pairing, and mentoring junior engineers.
- Active experience with AI-assisted development tooling (for example Claude Code) to accelerate product velocity, with awareness of associated risks and governance needs.

Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

- Familiarity with building or consuming data-intensive pipelines, metrics workflows, or system integrations.
- Exposure to modern infrastructure practices, cloud environments, CI/CD, and observability tools.
