Job Description

The Senior Software Engineer II positioned in New York, NY with remote work options leads complex technical initiatives on the Nliven platform and drives engineering excellence in a distributed environment. This role requires expertise in .NET Core, full-stack frontend, SRE/DevOps practices, mentoring, and end-to-end delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Steer sizable, complex initiatives from ideation to deployment, partnering with product managers, designers, and engineers across multiple pods.
  • Develop clean, reusable, and maintainable solutions across the full technology stack with emphasis on security, scalability, efficiency, and sustainable design.
  • Lead technical discussions with product and design teams to architect solutions aligned with business goals and long-term technical strategy.
  • Produce and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, API contracts, and roadmaps.
  • Oversee code reviews and mentor engineers across teams, ensuring adherence to engineering best practices and architectural patterns.
  • Define and promote coding standards, best practices, and design principles across the engineering organization.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and reliability issues, delivering solutions that improve DORA metrics.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies, assessing their adoption and integration into the platform.
  • Act as a technical mentor across multiple teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning, quality, and technical excellence.
  • Lead architectural discussions and contribute to strategic roadmaps and platform evolution.
  • Address highly complex challenges in performance, scalability, security, and system design across multiple domains.
  • Collaborate with product teams to design features from concept through production, including instrumentation, observability, monitoring, and iterative improvement from user feedback.
  • Drive efforts to enhance developer experience through tooling improvements, CI/CD optimization, infrastructure upgrades, and onboarding processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, executive leadership, and cross-functional teams to ensure engineering outcomes deliver strong business value and user experience.
  • Advocate shipping in small, complete vertical slices supported by trunk-based development and feature flags, avoiding large, risky releases.
  • Lead incident response efforts and promote accountability, shared ownership, and continuous improvement through participation in incident reviews and reliability initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Seven or more years of full stack software development in a SaaS or technology-driven environment.
  • Proficiency with modern frontend frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.
  • Strong front-end skills including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Solid back-end and API experience with .NET Core.
  • Deep understanding of SQL databases and data modeling best practices.
  • Familiarity with Agile frameworks and methodologies.
  • Strong foundation in computer science concepts.

  • Base annual salary between $130,000 and $150,000, commensurate with experience
