Sr. Rust Developer
Job Description
Qualis1 inc is seeking a Senior Rust Developer to support the adoption of Rust in embedded, mission-critical environments. This onsite role in Camden, NJ focuses on turning requirements into maintainable implementations while helping guide technical direction across the product and infrastructure lifecycle with a Scrum team.
You will work across the software development lifecycle (SDLC), collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritize work, and scope tasks. The role also involves integrating or converting legacy codebases to Rust, with an emphasis on memory-safe practices and sound architectural guidance.
Responsibilities
- Guide the adoption of Rust throughout embedded development
- Manage the integration or conversion of legacy software to Rust
- Provide best practices and architectural guidance for memory-safe use of Rust
- Develop best practices and implementation guidance, translating requirements into working, maintainable solutions for the C5 and Cyber Solution Centers
- Apply technical proficiency across stages of the SDLC, gathering requirements and partnering with stakeholders to prioritize and scope tasks
- Serve as a key team member on a Scrum team, instrumental in setting direction and strategy for product and infrastructure development
- Use multiple software languages, primarily Rust, with C/C++ and Python as needed
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3+ years of Rust software language experience (3 years will be considered)
- 3+ years developing Rust software for production systems
- Experience with C/C++ development
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Technologies
- Rust, C/C++, Python
- UML tools such as IBM Rhapsody or Magic Draw/Cameo
Preferred Additional Skills
- Experience converting C/C++ code to Rust
- Experience developing Rust software for embedded systems
- Experience developing embedded systems
- Object-oriented design and implementation experience, with exposure to software modeling and UML tools such as IBM Rhapsody or Magic Draw/Cameo
- Experience developing device drivers and Board Support Packages for real-time embedded systems
- Experience with Information Assurance and/or cryptography
Location: Camden, NJ (onsite). Compensation: USD 150,000 - 170,000 per year. Experience level: 3+ years. Education: Bachelor’s degree.
