Sr. Machine Learning Engineer, AGI
Job Description
Amazon’s Foundational AI (FAI) team is building Generative AI technology powered by Large Language Models (LLMs), with a focus on pushing frontier capabilities forward. In this onsite role in Sunnyvale, CA, you will contribute to RL Gym development, support frontier model research, and use Amazon’s heterogeneous data sources alongside large-scale computing to accelerate LLM progress.
What you’ll do
- Support the development of RL Gyms.
- Assess the usefulness of RL Gyms for advancing frontier model development.
- Build techniques aimed at advancing the state of the art with LLMs.
- Support foundational model development in an applied research capacity.
- Leverage Amazon’s heterogeneous data sources and large-scale computing resources to accelerate LLM advances.
Basic qualifications
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language.
- 5+ years leading design or architecture (including design patterns, reliability, and scaling) for new and existing systems.
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.

Compensation and location
- Location: Sunnyvale, CA (onsite)
- Base salary range: USD 193,300 to 261,500 per year
