Software Engineer Lead - Site Reliability Engineering Center

PNC Financial Services Group is hiring a Software Engineer Lead for its Site Reliability Engineering Center (SRC). This onsite role supports PNC’s IT hubs and includes participation in an on-call rotation to handle off-hour critical incidents. The position focuses on leading technical design and development while applying modern engineering practices to improve reliability and business outcomes.

Role and location

• Onsite position in Birmingham, AL
• Alternative IT hub locations include Cleveland, OH; Pittsburgh, PA; Dallas, TX; Birmingham, AL; Phoenix, AZ; or Denver, CO
• Rotation schedule includes off-hour critical incidents

What you will do

• Lead the technical design and development of software solutions
• Propose and design software solutions for complex business needs
• Prepare the technical and procedural documentation required for delivery and operations
• Facilitate complex problem resolution
• Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues
• Review coding, testing, and documentation of software
• Apply modern principles, methodologies, and tools to advance business initiatives and capabilities

Required qualifications

• Knowledge of values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in business decisions, with ability to leverage this in creating customized customer solutions
• Ability to assess and effectively manage risks associated with business objectives and activities in alignment with PNC’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework
• Typically requires a university/college degree and 3+ years of relevant or direct industry experience
• Bachelor’s degree
• In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job-specific certifications, and experience (including military service) may be considered

Technology experience

• Experience with: Java, Spring boot, J2EE, Kubernetes, Microservices, Mongo DB, Dynatrace, Elastic search, API knowledge, Postman, MQ, Kafka

• Additional experience that is a plus: ETL knowledge, SAFe methodology, Mainframe, additional databases (including Oracle, SQL, Kafka, Mongo, etc.), and Ansible

Compensation

• Base salary: USD 86,250 - 158,125 per year
• Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data, and individual skills, experience, and education
• Role is incentive eligible, with payment based on company, business, and/or individual performance
