Responsibilities
- Support the GWS-IDT IPT as a software engineer within the product team.
- Develop software products assigned by leadership focused on test automation for system-level requirement verification.
- Deliver software in an Agile development environment.
- Work in person in a closed-area environment 100 percent of the time as part of the IDT product team.
- Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications and systems that implement logical and mathematical solutions.
- Engage in multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and hardware engineers for planning, design, and use of electronic data processing systems for product software.
- Collaborate with other software and systems engineers to determine user needs, analyze capabilities, resolve problems related to program intent, outputs, inputs, and controls, and prepare operating instructions.
- Ensure software standards are met throughout the development lifecycle.
- Support advanced phases of software development, including requirements definition, integration, and deployment.
- Prioritize tasks and adjust efforts to achieve project results with limited oversight.
- Apply systems thinking to ensure products are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with end-user needs.
- Communicate openly and effectively with teammates and customer representatives.
- Adapt to a fast-paced environment with diverse assignments and collaborative teamwork across all levels.
- Note that this role is not offered as telework or a hybrid arrangement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or 2 years with a Master’s degree and 1 year of relevant experience.
- 4+ years of software development experience with proficiency in Java and C++.
- Proficiency with Git.
- Experience deploying and managing software in a Linux environment, preferably RHEL8.
- Experience with the Eclipse IDE.
- Strong grasp of object-oriented design principles and patterns.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10 percent to support business needs.
- Active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at the time of application, required to start.
