Job Description

Enverus (SBS) is seeking an early-career Software Engineer for the Distribution Tools team, focused on desktop design and engineering tools for the electric and gas distribution market.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain new features, bug fixes, and enhancements in the Distribution Tools platform using C#, .NET and cloud APIs
  • Partner with senior engineers to translate requirements and user stories into working software
  • Use AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT) to speed up day-to-day development
  • Apply judgment to review, test, and take ownership of any AI-generated code before it ships
  • Create unit and integration tests to improve reliability and reduce regressions
  • Participate in peer reviews and follow SBS coding standards
  • Contribute to build and deployment automation through CI/CD pipelines
  • Collaborate with product management, QA, and other developers to deliver reliable, secure shared platform capabilities
  • Attend and contribute to Scrum sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Seek feedback and grow technical skills, including when to use AI tools versus solving issues manually
  • Help reduce technical debt through refactoring and code optimization
  • Support process documentation and knowledge sharing within the Shared Services group

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 0–3 years of professional or internship experience in software development
  • Hands-on, practical experience using AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT) in real projects or coursework
  • Demonstrated ability to critically review and validate AI-generated code rather than accepting it unconditionally
  • Familiarity with modern development tools including Visual Studio, Git, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming principles
  • Interest in building software used by utilities and energy infrastructure organizations
  • Interest in CAD, GIS, or EAM Systems
