Software Engineer

Thomas & Reed, LLC is seeking a Software Engineer based in Columbus, OH (onsite) to plan, design, develop, and validate software systems with an emphasis on user experience (UX) innovation. The position involves improving established products and building new solutions, particularly for cloud-based platforms and internet-connected tools.

Role Overview

You will contribute to the delivery of intuitive, high-performance UX applications. Work will support strategic product differentiation and customer satisfaction by translating software requirements into reliable systems. Responsibilities include planning, designing, developing, and validating applications across both new development and enhancements to existing offerings.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software development.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, and C++, with the ability to apply them across diverse development environments.
• Experience in both front-end and back-end development, with a solid understanding of full-stack architecture and integration.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including Kanban and Scrum, with practical experience in iterative development and team collaboration.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud, including deployment and service integration.
• Knowledge of database management systems, including both SQL and NoSQL technologies, for efficient data modeling and access.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex technical issues and propose effective solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively across multidisciplinary groups.
• Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.

Additional Job-Specific Skills

• Hands-on experience in GUI development using modern tools and frameworks, with a focus on usability and performance.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices to support secure design and implementation of software systems.
