Software Engineer

Thomas & Reed, LLC is seeking a Software Engineer to help plan, design, develop, and validate software systems and applications with a strong focus on user experience (UX). This onsite role in Columbus, OH centers on improving existing products and delivering new solutions, especially across cloud-based and internet-connected platforms.

• Plan, design, develop, and validate UX-focused software systems and applications.
• Drive enhancements to existing products and build new solutions, with emphasis on cloud-based and internet-connected tools.
• Create intuitive, high-performance UX applications that support strategic product differentiation and customer satisfaction.

What you bring

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software development.
• Proficiency in programming languages including Java, Python, and C++, with the ability to apply them in diverse development environments.
• Experience with front-end and back-end development, including a solid understanding of full-stack architecture and integration.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including Kanban and Scrum, along with practical experience in iterative development and team collaboration.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud, including deployment and service integration.
• Knowledge of database management systems, including SQL and NoSQL, for data modeling and efficient access.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex technical issues and propose effective solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.
• Hands-on experience with GUI development using modern tools and frameworks, with focus on usability and performance.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices to support secure software design and implementation.
