Job Description
AMEWAS, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Developer to contribute to Battlespace Modeling and Simulation within the Joint Simulation Environment ecosystem. The role is on site at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland, and offers a salary range of $169,600 to $198,600 per year as part of a highly skilled team delivering advanced synthetic training and real-time simulation capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Develop software for an advanced synthetic training environment
- Integrate software into flight simulators to support pilot training against potential threats
- Support software development, software integration, customer training and demonstrations
- Demonstrate knowledge of standard programming algorithms, design patterns and object-oriented software design
- Work within an existing DevOps environment, including automated builds, testing and deployment on multiple OS platforms
- Evaluate and review C and C++ language code
- Program using C, C++ and Python 3
- Develop software requiring parallel processing, threading and inter-process communication
- Develop software to simulate complex environments or platforms in real time
- Develop software using network protocols for communication over standardized interfaces
- Collaborate with team members to design future enhancements
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering; alternative degrees (Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Aerospace, Software Systems, Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering) may qualify with at least 10 years of C++ experience
- Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
- 10 years of relevant work experience
- Experience conducting C/C++ development for real-time event reconstruction and simulation of complex systems
- Experience with multi-threaded parallel processing, threading and inter-process communication for large streaming datasets
- Experience building distributed software architectures using service-oriented design and message-driven frameworks
- Experience with CMake, Git, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows on Linux clusters with automated builds, testing and deployment
- Experience with modeling and simulation, Monte Carlo methods, numerical algorithms and signal processing for detector/system environments
- Experience conducting cross-language integration (C++, Python, Java) and network protocols for real-time communication interfaces
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Special Access Program (SAP) Access
- Willingness to obtain and process full clearance, including DoD Secret Security Clearance

Position Background
- The Simulation Applications and Architecture (SAA) Branch develops multiple modeling and simulation tools to support warfighter training, test and evaluation, data analysis, live/virtual/constructive activities, and R&D for DoD agencies and international partners. Tools include GRID, WSCE, SCE, and Architecture Management.
- The SAA Branch designs, develops, documents, and deploys these products and tools.
- The Battlespace Division delivers these products as part of an integrated suite known as the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) Technical Baseline (JTB), the battlespace for JSE.
Physical Environment and Working Conditions
The role is primarily office-based, with daily computer work at a desk. Occasional short travel between on-site offices and buildings may be required, and rare overnight travel could occur.
