AMEWAS, Inc. is seeking a Software Developer (WSCE)-Journeyman to advance Battlespace Modeling & Simulation initiatives. This on-site role at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland, focuses on building software for an advanced synthetic training environment and integrating it with flight simulators used to train pilots against potential threats. The position offers a salary range of $109,650 to $161,250 per year and requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with at least three years of relevant experience.
The Position
This on-site opportunity is based in Patuxent River, MD, within AMEWAS's Simulation Applications and Architecture discipline. Compensation ranges from $109,650 to $161,250 and is commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop software for an advanced synthetic training environment
- Integrate software into flight simulators to support pilot training against potential threats
- Support software development, software integration, customer training and demonstrations
- Demonstrate knowledge of standard programming algorithms, design patterns and object-oriented software design
- Work within an existing DevOps environment (automated builds, testing, deployment of software on multiple OS platforms, etc.)
- Evaluate and review C and C++ language code
- Program using C and C++
- Develop software requiring parallel processing, threading and inter-process communication
- Develop software to simulate complex environments or platforms in real time
- Collaborate with team members to design future enhancements
Must-Haves
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering (degrees in Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Aerospace, Software Systems, Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering may qualify)
- Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
- 3 years of relevant work experience
- 3 years of experience with software development using C/C++, CMake and/or scripting languages (Bash, Python 3 or similar)
- 3 years of experience with scripting and databases
- Familiarity with scaled agile software development tools and environments (Git, Jira or similar platforms)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Special Access Program (SAP) Access
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
Desired Skills
- Experience working in a cross-platform development environment (Windows, Linux or similar platforms)
- Experience with modeling and simulation
- Experience with military weapons systems or military air platforms
