Job Description

TaxSlayer is hiring a Software Developer for a hybrid role based in Augusta, GA. In this position, you will work across backend and frontend development, cloud integrations, and delivery pipelines, with an emphasis on testing, observability, and reliable operations.

Role Focus

You will build and modernize C#/.NET applications, develop React user interfaces, integrate services with Azure platform components, and support containerized deployments. The role also includes working with SQL Server performance and monitoring production behavior to identify and address issues early.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and modernize C#/.NET applications, including ASP.NET Core Web APIs, microservices, and legacy MVC applications.
  • Develop reliable backend services and message-driven workflows for high-throughput, distributed systems.
  • Design, tune, and troubleshoot SQL Server workloads, including stored procedures, indexing, execution plans, and concurrency issues.
  • Build and maintain React applications using TypeScript and modern frontend patterns.
  • Create services that run in containerized environments using established Docker and Kubernetes patterns.
  • Integrate applications with Azure services such as Key Vault, Container Registry, and Blob Storage using existing platform standards.
  • Maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps to support dependable application delivery.
  • Use observability tooling (for example Grafana) to monitor production behavior and proactively identify issues.
  • Write automated tests across service, integration, and UI layers using tools such as xUnit, Jest, and Playwright.
  • Lead code reviews, mentor engineers, and translate business goals into clear technical solutions.

Required Technologies and Skills

  • Strong experience with C# and ASP.NET Core Web API.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and React or similar frontend frameworks.
  • Solid object-oriented design fundamentals and familiarity with common software design patterns.
  • Ability to work across modern and legacy .NET codebases.
  • Experience with distributed backend systems including microservices, asynchronous workflows, message-driven integration, and standard application architecture patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with stored procedures and execution plan analysis.
  • Experience building applications for cloud or containerized environments.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or comparable deployment platforms.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and troubleshooting deployment issues.
  • Experience writing automated tests and supporting quality-focused development practices.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Comfort working in Agile/Scrum environments and using standard Git workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in financial services, tax software, or similarly regulated and high-availability domains.
  • Experience with Azure services such as Key Vault, Container Registry, Blob Storage, or Azure DevOps.
  • Experience deploying or supporting applications in Kubernetes-based environments.
  • Advanced SQL Server performance tuning experience in high-volume production systems.
  • Experience with observability and production diagnostics in complex systems.

Education & Certifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent professional experience will be considered.

Work Location & Schedule

  • Hybrid position based in the Augusta, GA office
  • On-site two days per week in the Augusta Georgia office
  • Remotely three days per week
